The specific strength (strength-to-weight ratio) of ASTM B338 commercially pure titanium tubes is very high among metallic structural materials; its strength is comparable to that of steel, but its weight is only 57% that of steel. Titanium tubes have excellent heat resistance, maintaining good strength and stability even at 500°C.
Titanium tubing also exhibit good low-temperature performance; even at extremely low temperatures of -250°C, they retain high impact strength and can withstand high pressure and vibration. Titanium tubes have strong corrosion resistance, primarily due to their high affinity for oxygen, which allows them to form a dense oxide layer on their surface, protecting the titanium from corrosion.
Therefore, titanium seamless pipe is very stable in acidic, alkaline, and neutral salt solutions, and in oxidizing media, exhibiting better corrosion resistance than existing stainless steels and other non-ferrous metals.
