Advantages of Nickel Tube and Pipe

Corrosion Resistance

Nickel tubes have a dense oxide film on their surface, which resists strong alkalis, chlorides, and even boiling 50% sodium hydroxide solution. The annual corrosion rate is less than 0.025mm, which is 20 times stronger than 304 stainless steel. Alloys like Inconel 625 also perform very stably in extremely corrosive environments.

High Temperature Resistance

Pure nickel has a melting point as high as 1455℃, and Inconel 625 can even operate at 980℃. Nickel 201 can withstand temperatures up to 300℃ for long periods and up to 600℃ for short periods, maintaining reliable mechanical properties at high temperatures.

Mechanical properties

Annealed tensile strength ≥380MPa, elongation ≥45%, cold-worked strength up to 900MPa. Good low-temperature toughness, impact energy ≥100J at -196℃, suitable for cryogenic environments.

Easy to process and weld

It has good plasticity and can be formed by both hot and cold working. It is also easy to weld, suitable for both argon arc welding and plasma welding.

Alloy 201 (N02201)

  • Composition: Nickel ≥99.0%, Carbon ≤0.02%, Silicon ≤0.35%, Manganese ≤0.35%, Iron ≤0.40%, Copper ≤0.25%, Sulfur ≤0.01%.
  • Features: Excellent corrosion resistance, especially strong alkali resistance; good high-temperature oxidation resistance; maximum continuous operating temperature can reach over 600°C.

Hot piercing method

The tube blank is heated to a high temperature and then pierced into a hollow tube (raw tube) on a skew rolling piercing mill (such as the Mannesmann piercing mill).

 
 
 

Hot extrusion

The tube blank and die are heated, and the metal is extruded through the die under high pressure to form a tube blank. This method has high precision and is suitable for difficult-to-deform alloys or thick-walled tubes, but the cost is relatively high.

 
 
 

Cold drawing/cold rolling
