Titanium Tubing For Vacuum Cleaners

 

Titanium tubing for vacuum cleaners is a high-end tubing material used in vacuum cleaners, possessing many excellent properties that enhance the performance and user experience of the vacuum cleaner.

Titanium tubing is commonly used in high-end vacuum cleaners, especially those designed for use in special environments, such as industrial vacuum cleaners or those designed for cleaning humid or corrosive environments. Additionally, some high-quality, long-life household vacuum cleaners may also utilize titanium tubing.

 

 

1) Lightweight and high-strength:

Titanium alloy has a density of approximately 4.5 g/cm³, only 60% that of steel, but its strength is comparable to high-quality steel, demonstrating a significant advantage in unit strength. This makes the titanium hose of the vacuum cleaner both lightweight and sturdy, easy for users to operate and carry, while also withstanding the pressure of the vacuum cleaner during operation.

2) High corrosion resistance:

A dense oxide film forms on the surface of the titanium tube, which can resist corrosion from seawater, strong acids, chloride ions, etc., and its lifespan can be more than 5 times that of carbon steel. Therefore, even in relatively harsh cleaning environments, titanium tubes are not easily corroded, ensuring the service life of the vacuum cleaner.

3) Excellent thermal stability:

Even at high temperatures of 450-500℃, titanium tubing maintains high specific strength, far exceeding that of aluminum alloys. Although the internal temperature of a vacuum cleaner typically does not reach such high levels during normal operation, in special circumstances, such as prolonged continuous use or motor malfunction leading to localized temperature increases, the thermal stability of titanium tubing ensures that its performance remains unaffected.

4) Strong resistance to stress corrosion:

In chloride-containing environments, titanium tubing exhibits significantly better resistance to pitting and stress corrosion cracking than stainless steel. This makes titanium tubing more reliable for vacuum cleaners used in humid environments or when cleaning stains containing salt.

5) Low coefficient of linear expansion:

Titanium tubing has only 50% of the coefficient of linear expansion of steel, resulting in minimal deformation during temperature fluctuations. This characteristic reduces the risk of leakage at pipe connections, ensuring the vacuum cleaner's internal seal and thus improving suction efficiency.

 

 

Ti ≥99.5% (matrix element, balance)

Fe ≤0.30 is a major impurity that affects plasticity.

O ≤0.25 interstitial elements improve strength and reduce plasticity.

N ≤0.03 interstitial elements, with strict content control to ensure toughness.

C ≤0.10 interstitial element, to avoid the formation of hard carbides.

H ≤0.015 Strictly control hydrogen content to prevent hydrogen embrittlement.

 

 

Mechanical properties are divided into annealed state (common state, code M) and cold-worked state. Annealed state is the mainstream state for pipeline applications, with stable performance and easy processing.

Tensile strength(Rm)​: 400~480 MPa

Yield strength(Rp0.2): 300~350 MPa

Elongation: 25%~35%

Reduction of area (Z): 50%~60%

Elastic modulus(E): 110 GPa

Hardness (HB): 110~150

 

 

A. Impurities and their impact:

Oxygen and iron content are the core factors determining the strength of GR2. Higher content increases strength but decreases plasticity; therefore, the impurity content range must be matched according to the application scenario.

B. Processing adaptability:

Annealed GR2 exhibits excellent plasticity and can be cold-bent, stamped, and welded. The strength of welded joints can reach over 90% of the base material, meeting pipeline connection requirements.

C. Corrosion resistance:

GR2's corrosion resistance stems from its dense TiO₂ oxide film. The purity of this film directly affects its integrity; excessive impurities will reduce localized corrosion resistance.
