Titanium Damascus rods are primarily crafted from commercially pure titanium and titanium alloys. Through a process involving multi-layered metallurgical bonding and plastic deformation, natural, layered patterns are created. The entire production process takes place in an oxygen-free environment, ensuring the integrity of the material's properties and the distinct texture of its patterns.

The process begins with raw material preparation: sheets of commercially pure titanium and titanium alloys are cut to uniform dimensions. Surfaces are ground to remove oxide layers and impurities, followed by degreasing and thorough drying to ensure the contact surfaces are pristine and free of oil-a prerequisite for subsequent composite welding. The sheets are then stacked in alternating layers, aligned precisely, and secured to prevent any shifting or misalignment during processing.

Next, the stacked preform undergoes vacuum diffusion bonding. It is sealed, evacuated of air, and filled with an inert protective gas. Placed into a high-temperature furnace, the material is heated at a controlled rate. Under high-temperature and pressurized conditions, the contact surfaces of the different titanium materials achieve atomic-level fusion, resulting in a seamless metallurgical bond and a dense, unified composite billet.

Once the composite billet is formed, it undergoes high-temperature plastic deformation. Through processes such as forging and twisting, the internal layered structure is manipulated to create various patterns-such as flowing, spiral, or chaotic designs. Subsequent multi-pass hot rolling or hot extrusion reduces the billet's diameter into a cylindrical rod, while simultaneously refining the internal microstructure to enhance overall density and toughness.

Following this, the rods undergo finishing: they are straightened, trimmed of excess material at the ends, and ground to remove surface scale and machining marks. Dimensional tolerances are adjusted to ensure the rods meet the required standards for roundness and straightness.

Finally, the rods undergo stabilization and surface treatment. A low-temperature heat treatment is applied to relieve internal stresses generated during processing, stabilizing the material's mechanical properties and preventing future deformation or cracking. Anodizing and coloring are performed according to specific requirements; by applying varying voltages, oxide films of different thicknesses are created, resulting in a spectrum of colors-such as blue, purple, and gray-that accentuate the layered, three-dimensional texture, ultimately yielding the finished Timascus rod.
