What is Gr2 polished titanium pipe?

The manufacturing process for titanium pipes involves techniques such as cold rolling, welding, and extrusion. The outer diameter ranges from 4 to 280 mm, with wall thickness tolerance controlled within ±12.5%. The chemical composition must meet impurity content standards to ensure adequate ductility. Its density is approximately 4.51 g/cm³, and its tensile strength can reach over 895 MPa. It can withstand operating temperatures ranging from -253°C to 550°C. Typical applications include heat exchangers (such as condensers and evaporators), standard piping for the nuclear power industry, aircraft engine compressor components, and fuel tanks for spacecraft.

B. Chemical/Electrochemical Polishing: This method utilizes acidic or alkaline solutions to react chemically with the titanium surface, dissolving microscopic protrusions to achieve a smooth surface. For example, a nitric acid-hydrofluoric acid mixture can effectively remove the oxide layer, but the solution concentration (15-20% nitric acid, 5-8% hydrofluoric acid) and temperature (20-40°C) must be strictly controlled to prevent excessive corrosion.
Application Scenarios and Industry Standards
Titanium tube polishing is widely used in aerospace, medical devices, and chemical equipment industries. For example, in the aerospace industry, the surface roughness of titanium tubes (Ra) must be ≤0.4 μm to ensure efficient fluid flow; while in the medical device industry, it needs to meet requirements such as non-magnetic properties and low bacterial adhesion. Regarding industry standards, internationally, ASTM B600 (Standard Specification for Surface Finish of Titanium and Titanium Alloy Products) is typically used as a reference.
