What is the use of Nickel rods?

Nickel rod is a metal material with nickel as its main component, and the nickel content is usually ≥99%. It is in the form of a long strip with a cylindrical or rectangular cross-section. The characteristics and applications of nickel rod can be summarized as follows:

 

1. Basic Properties

A. Appearance and Structure: Silvery-white metallic luster, face-centered cubic crystal structure.

B. Density and Melting Point: Density approximately 8.9 g/cm³, melting point range 1435-1455°C.

C. Electrical/Thermal Conductivity: Excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, with a resistivity as low as 0.085 × 10⁻⁶Ω·m and a thermal conductivity of 79.3 W/mK.

D. Corrosion Resistance: Excellent corrosion resistance in alkaline and reducing environments, and resistant to hydroxides and some acidic media.

 

2. Mechanical Properties

Tensile Strength: ≥403 MPa (e.g., Ni201 nickel rod).

Yield Strength: ≥103 MPa (e.g., Ni201 nickel rod).

Elongation: Up to 50%, exhibiting excellent plasticity and processability.
