BT6 Titanium wrought alloy plate is a sheet made of titanium alloy, which has high strength, corrosion resistance, light weight and other properties ‌.

BT6 Titanium wrought alloy plate are mainly composed of titanium and other alloying elements(such as aluminum,tin,manganese,etc.), and their chemical composition and mechanical properties vary depending on the type of alloy. For example, Gr7 titanium alloy plate is an α+β type titanium alloy, mainly composed of titanium, aluminum and tin,etc.It has good corrosion resistance and high strength,especially in high temperature‌.The tensile strength can reach over 900MPa, the yield strength can reach over 800MPa, and the elongation is over 10% ‌.

BT6 Titanium wrought alloy plate are widely used in multiple fields.

In the aerospace field, titanium alloy sheets, due to their light weight, high strength and corrosion resistance, are ideal materials for manufacturing critical components such as aircraft structural parts and engine parts ‌.

In Marine engineering, titanium alloy sheets are also favored for their excellent resistance to seawater corrosion and are often used in the construction of deep-sea probes, submarine hulls and offshore oil platforms ‌.

The processing technology of titanium alloy plates also has certain particularities. Due to its high strength and low thermal conductivity, high temperatures are required during the forging process, and it is necessary to ensure that the material does not crack under force. Meanwhile, titanium alloy plates also have good weld ability, but welding should be carried out under the protection of inert gas (e.g. Argon) to avoid oxidation in the welding area ‌.

Heat treatment process of titanium alloys:

 

(1)Stress relief annealing: The purpose is to eliminate/reduce the residual stress generated during the processing. Prevent chemical erosion in some corrosive environments and reduce deformation.

(2) Full annealing: The purpose is to obtain good toughness, improve processing performance, facilitate reprocessing, and enhance dimensional and micro-structure stability.

(3) Solution treatment and aging: The purpose is to enhance its strength. α titanium alloys and stable β titanium alloys cannot undergo strengthening heat treatment; only annealing is carried out during production.α+β titanium alloys and metastable βtitanium alloys containing a small amount of α phase can be further strengthened through solution treatment and aging.

In addition, to meet the special requirements of work-pieces, metal heat treatment processes such as double annealing, isothermal annealing,βheat treatment, and deformation heat treatment are also adopted in industry.

 

Surface treatment of titanium plates:

 

(1)Pickling treatment:

Pickling is the process of removing the oxide scale on the surface of titanium alloy plates with a mixture of hydrofluoric acid and nitric acid. After acid washing treatment, the surface of the sheet is clean, which can improve its subsequent processing and usage performance, such as welding and coating.

(2)Sandblasting and polishing:

Sandblasting can remove impurities and defects on the surface of titanium alloy plates, making the surface roughness uniform.

Polishing can make the surface of the sheet as bright as a mirror, enhance its aesthetic appeal and corrosion resistance, and is often used in products with extremely high surface quality requirements

(3)Anodic oxidation treatment:

Anodic oxidation treatment can form a dense oxide film on the surface of titanium alloys, improving their corrosion resistance and wear resistance

For instance, in the manufacturing of medical devices, titanium alloy components that have undergone anodic oxidation treatment can better resist the corrosion of human body fluids and extend their service life.
