Definition on the Titanium rod bending parts
Titanium rod bending parts are metal components that are processed from titanium rods into specific angles through plastic deformation. The core process requires a combination of material properties and forming technology.
Annealed titanium alloys (such as Gr5 annealed or Gr2) are preferred because they have better plasticity and a bending pass rate that is about 20% higher than that of solution-treated or high-strength β-type titanium alloys. When bending Gr5 titanium bars, the operation must be uniform and the bending should not be reversed to avoid breakage; although Gr2 can be reversed, its strength is lower.
Surface treatment: Before processing, acid pickling or sandblasting is required to remove oxide scale and oil stains to ensure surface cleanliness.
Key points of the process on the Titanium rod bending parts
Springback Control: A 2°-5° margin is required for elastic recovery after bending titanium. Hot bending (177-350°C for pure titanium, 427°C for titanium alloys) can significantly reduce springback to less than 1°.
Minimum Bend Radius: Requires ≥3 times the tube diameter for cold bending, while hot bending can reduce this to 2 times the tube diameter. Titanium tubes with a diameter <50mm can be cold bent, but require subsequent stress relief annealing (450-550°C for 1 hour).
Surface Treatment: Before processing, pickling or sandblasting are required to remove scale and oil to ensure surface cleanliness.
Heating assistance: Titanium rods need to be heated to a certain temperature before bending to prevent breakage, and the bending radius should not be too small. For high-elasticity titanium alloys, the smaller the bending angle, the better the effect; rapid heating and polishing are required.

Key classifications and characteristics of the titanium rod bending parts
1) Gr1,Gr2
Characteristics: Excellent plasticity (elongation ≥25%), minimum cold bending radius up to 3 times the pipe diameter, suitable for corrosion-resistant applications such as chemical and medical industries.
Applications: Gr2 is commonly used in pipe elbows (such as 90° welded elbows) and medical devices.
2) Ti-5Al-2.5Sn
Characteristics: High toughness, strong corrosion resistance, suitable for die forgings and marine engineering.
3) Ti-6Al-4V, Gr5
Characteristics: High strength (tensile strength ≥ 895 MPa), but requires heat assistance (above 427℃) for bending; minimum bending radius ≥ 4 times the plate thickness; significant springback. Applications: Aerospace-grade round bars, spinal plates, etc.
4) Gr7 Ti-0.2Pd
Characteristics: Better corrosion resistance than Gr2, suitable for high-velocity seawater environments.
5) Ti-15Mo-3Al-2.7Nb-0.2Si: American standard aviation titanium plate, can be bent but needs to be heated to 177-350℃
